Ingredients:
1kg pork belly
1 cup Jissie Sussie Honey and Soy Sauce glaze
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Pork Belly:
Preheat your oven to 150°C.
Score the skin of the pork belly in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut too deeply into the meat.
Season the pork belly with salt and pepper on both sides.
Sear the Pork Belly:
Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the pork belly, skin side down, and sear until the skin is golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
Flip the pork belly and sear the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes.
Add Aromatics:
Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Roast the Pork Belly:
Pour half of the Jissie Sussie Honey and Soy Sauce glaze over the pork belly, ensuring it is evenly coated.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for 1.5 to 2 hours, basting with the remaining glaze every 30 minutes. The pork should be tender and the glaze caramelized.
Finish and Serve:
Once cooked, remove the pork belly from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Slice the pork belly into bite-sized pieces and garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions.
Serve with steamed rice or your favorite vegetables.
