Ingredients:

  • 1kg pork belly

  • 1 cup Jissie Sussie Honey and Soy Sauce glaze

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish

Instructions:

Prepare the Pork Belly:

  • Preheat your oven to 150°C.

  • Score the skin of the pork belly in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut too deeply into the meat.

  • Season the pork belly with salt and pepper on both sides.

Sear the Pork Belly:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Add the pork belly, skin side down, and sear until the skin is golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  • Flip the pork belly and sear the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes.

Add Aromatics:

  • Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Roast the Pork Belly:

  • Pour half of the Jissie Sussie Honey and Soy Sauce glaze over the pork belly, ensuring it is evenly coated.

  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for 1.5 to 2 hours, basting with the remaining glaze every 30 minutes. The pork should be tender and the glaze caramelized.

Finish and Serve:

  • Once cooked, remove the pork belly from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  • Slice the pork belly into bite-sized pieces and garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions.

  • Serve with steamed rice or your favorite vegetables.
