A proudly South African Favorite, the jaffle is a tremendously popular dish, especially at fetes and fairs.
They are also quite easy to make.
You can put basically anything inside a jaffle, from mince, spaghetti, tomato and ham and cheese, to eggs and bacon. The possibilities are endless.
The secret is to butter your bread slices on the inside and the outside. The butter on the inside forms a barrier so that your sauce does not make the bread soggy and the butter on the outside helps it to not stick to the pan.
