Fried fish with Creamy Peri Peri Sauce

Ingredients:

For the Deep-Fried Fish:

  • 500g white fish fillets, cut into strips

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 cup cold water

  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Creamy Peri Peri Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons premade peri peri sauce

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:


Prepare the Batter:

  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.

  • Gradually add cold water while whisking to create a smooth batter


Deep-Fry the Fish:

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep pan to 180°C (350°F).

  • Dip each fish strip into the batter, ensuring an even coating.

  • Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy (about 3-4 minutes per side).

  • Remove the fried fish and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.


Prepare the Creamy Peri Peri Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, premade peri peri sauce, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

  • Adjust the peri peri sauce amount based on your spice preference.


Serve and Enjoy:

  • Arrange the deep-fried fish on a serving platter.

  • Drizzle the creamy peri peri sauce over the fish or serve it on the side for dipping.
